Alicia Loreto is a fully qualified and experienced teacher of mindfulness in both Mindfulness Based Stressed Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
Alicia trained at Oxford Mindfulness with Jini Lavelle and Marie Johansson, and did her Mindfulness Teaching Practice at Trigonos, Bangor University, and her Cognitive Therapy training at Oxford Mindfulness Centre.
Before the Oxford Mindfulness Centre went online, Alicia was regularly invited to lead meditations for their sitting groups, as well as at the Oxford Student Mindfulness Centre. She has led online meditations for students around the world, via Study Stream and also runs Mindfulness Practice Days.
Alicia’s creative sensitivity shows through writing poetry and painting.
How it all began (Excerpt from My Inner House)
I think of myself as an Oxonian from Venezuela as I have lived in Oxford, longer than I have lived in my homeland.
I first came to England on a grant from the Venezuelan government to pursue post-graduate studies in Education and Psychology,
The practice of meditation makes us more observant, more contemplative, more connected to our inner self, as well as to the whole. Therefore, more connected to Nature and more appreciative of its beauty.
Nature is, to me, the teacher par excellence; whenever I pay attention, I find that Nature has a message in the form of a lesson that teaches me something about life or about myself.
